There
are certain persons in human history that come and leave us
like a dream. And such a dream remains forever. Abu Khalid
was a political dreamer. He is a Palestinian Christian, was
not a rich man. He is a minority by his related beliefs. He
at the same time was a very humble person but very educated
for that matter. At the time he lived till in the last year
of his age he lived at the period when the world was in turmoil
from every direction that one can think of: Abu Khalid was
happy to be in this field and at the same time he loved China
and at the same time he loved how a human being is able to
change his habitat. He is very curious about many things.
He was by his personality a person who can open doors for
everybody. For he was a noted personality as far as a Palestinian
Revolutionary Movement which is called Fatah. He came to China
with his wife and young daughter who was very beautiful. There
he handled the affairs of the Palestinians around the world.
He talked to persons in particular he admired them very much.
He talked to Mao Tse Tung and the Foreign Minister whom he
appreciated very highly as being world leader of world diplomacy
who was called Choun En Nai. His admiration for this personality
went beyond recognition here and he continued to live in China
during the upheaval of the Chinese Revolution as such. We
remember here that Abu Khalid does come from one educated
Palestinian family for his mother was famous and remains to
be famous Arab writer of Palestine. And each writer in particular
Arab writers are not stable intellectually. But they changed
their mind with the changing periods of the world affairs.
But Abu Khalid was different he believed in the call of humanity
to create every for granted Palestine State which all the
Arabs and middle eastern people and for that matter all the
world around will be educated from his creation.
At
the time he came to China there were few foreign students.
And he kept a close watch of them but he was interested to
meet new students who came from the Arabian Peninsula as such.
He has heard about such a student from the Arabia Peninsula.
But he was strange. Simply because he came from a capitalist
city and a capitalist family but he was not sure about his
political orientation as an educated person. He thought to
meet such a person, who was strange under any circumstances
in China. And finally Abu Kahid was true democrat he believed
in dialogue as the only mean to know another people orientation
for other political or economical or social or whatever else.
They finally met and had a long political talk and he was
impressed in whatever he heard from this Arab student here.
He just came to a conclusion that it does not matter at all
whatever a person economic situation is to have political
enlightment as such and their friendship grew together with
the given time for China was in a turmoil and people cannot
make up their mind of what to do and how to do it. That time
when Abu Khalid was a child Lebanon was in a civil war. Abu
Khalid received an official letter from Lebanon that he must
come back immediately to join the resistance over there after
resistance of which he had done so. The time when Abu Khalid
came to Lebanon he joined the active military wing of the
Palestinian revolution. And as such exercise was combined
with many threats but he didn't care about them. But it was
a war of undefined purpose. For this matter Abu Khalid and
his colleagues joined the resistance and fought seriously
until the moment came when he was cornered on the hill surrounded
by the army of Lebanese warlords. And he fought very bravely
and he didn't care about anything except his army. And he
died very bravely also and everybody remembered Abu Khalid
for his bravity.
