During the World War Two Charles De Gaulle was in London. He was in London conducting the French resistance. In times of war such leadership demands its major life decision for the people need leadership to guide them. It is very common in times of crisis the leader must hide or else the resistance will be in disarray and confusion as it happened many times before. Charles De Gaulle had ample time to think in solitude while he was alone. He was exercising his moments of alienation in silent form.
