The
idea of Diwania in practical term is one of the oldest concept
of Arabism as far as human gathering is concerned. Kuwait
society accepts this tradition from endless times until nowadays.
It is a place where the powerful and layman sit together and
talk about different kind of human existence. Everybody is
welcomed to this kind of form of human gathering called the
Diwania.
In a sense everybody is free the powerful and the passing
human being they talk and debate about different kind of aspect
that fulfill human aspiration. The Kuwaiti Diwania has a reflection
in one way or another concerning human democracy in this practical
political social and economical nucleus. In old times Diwania
is confined to the main aspect of this such but in the turn
of time and changed atmosphere of century Diwania has become
a mix Diwania whereby man and woman gather together and debate
different issues freely.
It
is a place whereby a cultural aspect has reflected at it's
best. Everything is debated or argued about within this Diwania
from political current affairs to international affairs to
economic whereabouts of human destiny to cultural affairs
and above all the future. In a sense its lively presence of
a human Kuwaiti existence.
To
have a very important element of Kuwaiti society reflecting
itself in whoever is present in the Diwania does augment a
speeding pace of human development. It also reflects the overall
concession of the meaning in the Kuwaiti sense the practical
aspect of a human gathering whereby everybody is stable and
free to utter whatever they want to utter in their mind. Yet
a Diwania is a mixture of freedom and respect whereby everybody
must respect the other opinions that are thrown within an
argument engulfing this human gathering. In a sense everything
is debated here. Freedom is an extremely precious thing to
live with as Kuwaiti do enjoy this kind of freedom under all
the circumstances. Freedom inequality they tally each other
in one political social and economical. Yet above all one
practical or salient aspect of Kuwaiti Diwania is a place
whereby the problem that human beings could face are debated
and solved through suggestions according to the granted human
capabilities. In a sense it is one of the best places of new
ideas in tackling a human obstacle. Kuwaiti Diwania does affect
this kind of practical notion of human existence. Where by
above all issues are neglected by other members of the society
are debated all under in free form of a human existence such
kind of freedom does fulfill in a Kuwaiti individual of both
sexes whatever they have in store in their mind.
The
exchange of this opinion do have a sense of freedom where
by everybody can criticize or praise what the other hears
about the other one. But at the same time such a person should
be liable to be rejected verbally in one way or another. For
opinion do have a different kind of meaning and different
owe upon such an opinion concerning matter. And a Kuwaiti
Diwania, one can decide the status of the person who talks
about certain issues but everybody is involved with no exceptions
at all and new formal kind of verbal exchange could range
from different kind of a human facets of existence social,
economics and political in all term. It is a place however,
whereby everybody has an opinion to relate to and these opinions
are related in a free and independent fashion.
Nevertheless,
there are specialized Diwania's there are some concerned about
edition political issues and others corner themselves in economic
issues where as other deflect themselves in cultural issues.
And above all there are some who debate different kind of
human civilization as such, but in recent years specially
at the end of the century Diwania in Kuwait has reflected
a new breed of freedom of thinking which includes the family
side of the society and this diwania is normally run by a
feminine controlling the debate and freedom of discussions
with no restrictions attached and this feminine aspect of
the Arab development could reflect the term in Kuwaiti sense
in all directions of life.
Yet
above all there are Diwania's where attend a gathering of
intellectual and non-intellectual all together and they formulate
their question that bewilder their society as such and these
questions could range from different kind of issues. From
poetry to economics to political discussions and other matter
that concern human existence. Perhaps one can find this kind
of reflection of a Diwania in a minute sense and both Lebanon
and Egypt together whereby a contest of poets gather together
to relate their opinion about and particular issue at hand.
Yet a Kuwaiti Diwania is a different kind of Diwania because
of it's own caliber of discussion and passes of kinds of freedom
one can have for one can criticize which is an Arab hobby
whatever he likes to criticize but he should accept terrible
sessions of his talk.
Nonetheless
there are no fixed time for any Diwania to start functioning
in a social manner for there are Diwania's normally people
gather together before heading for work and this could be
found among all different persons in the society. It is in
the rich Diwania that the social status of different kind
of economical personality are living together in one go without
any differentiation could be labeled here. That community
of different status of the social and economic status of personality
reflect itself under duress human existence either in poverty
or richness or in oppression all together.
The rhythm of people's gathering in small patches was reflected
during the Iraqi military occupation of Kuwait. For at that
period there were all over Kuwait 130,000 inhabitants of Kuwaiti
origins only. Or as the Iraqi military forces where half a
million and 20,000 military men all together, Kuwaitis continued
in their gathering early in the evening or early in the morning
at the same time or after finishing the siesta period. Opinions
at that time rotate out to continue public resistance against
the occupying Iraqi forces. Such a method of small gathering
of people around one was very difficult for the Iraqi military
person to control where as freedom of the talk is very lucid
at best over the time. It was cumbersome for the Iraqi military
occupying to contain the talks under the verbal exchanges
in these scattered Diwania around Kuwait for the Kuwaitis
have lived through their lives from the beginning and then
this period in a total sense of freedom and nobody was able
to hold his tongue under any kind of circumstances for it
was a blessing for them to die for their country at this period
in particular. At the same time a Diwania is a place whereby
marriage contract could be upheld between all the status of
the sides at the rich or poor all together. But in moments
of crisis or in moments of happiness they all gather together
to exchange all views from left and right. The Diwania in
the sense it was a gathering of a human convention as such.
When
the skies don't cry then the people gather together to exchange
opinion about everything that's correct. About the sea and
fishing about the desert and its blessings on the earth. About
the comfortable life they are having. About the trend setting
around the globe and about everything that's conceivable here.
In varied outlook towards life does seem promising from these
doubt no matter what they are. This particular such an increase
of consenting does reflect itself and under such obstacles
that can prop up from above, from left and right. Such an
interest of Kuwait has produced the best singers that are
available in the society as such, which includes economics,
politics and social science.
This particular aspect of Kuwaiti social economic political
nucleus is one of the salient factors about the Kuwait history.
In as such it is one salient factor whereby all of Kuwait
unite. The rich and the poor the powerful and the lowly all
together in union. In a direct sense it is a nucleus of power
that reflects itself independently from other factors. It
is present in the societ, it is so powerful that during the
invasion of Kuwait or otherwise different such event was not
able to close the Diwania's because it reflects people desire
to exchange their views of all kinds.
At the same time it does preclude different kind of point
of view the line on the factor or what some call as democracy.
It is in that sense the flowing blood to the heart of Kuwaiti
kernel of Kuwaiti society an entity as such. The mixture of
tranquility and respect prevails over all other expression
is present at the Diwania. The rejection that could be cared
over of the other age under the power of consideration are
countless. Needless to note here that there are no any such
upraises or value attached from these different kind and various
forms of criticism.
