This word is a unique word. Before the Industrial Revolution it was used to describe how wars were conducted. It was used precisely when an army goes through the lines of another fighting army. With the elapsing of time the word thrust has changed the mode of the meaning of the word to that of love affairs.

It was basically concerned with emotional affairs. And since it is used as such human emotions witnessed a new emotion thrust. Therefore emotional thrust changed to give the impression that triumph of love does require a certain mode of thrust. But the meaning of the word retained its emotional value.
